A cascaded fixed-bed system is based on multiple reaction stages connected in series, each equipped with specifically adapted carrier materials (biofilm carriers). As the wastewater flows through each reactor stage sequentially, each stage provides an optimally designed surface for microorganisms to colonize.
The pollutant concentration decreases from one stage to the next, allowing microorganisms in each stage to adapt to the specific conditions and pollutant levels present there. <\/p>\n

The cascaded structure ensures particularly efficient utilization of microorganisms, as each stage operates under ideal conditions that are precisely tailored to the specific pollutant loads. This allows a step-by-step and targeted degradation of a wide variety of contaminants.
